Dr. Floyd Del McDaniel is Regents Professor of
Physics and Materials Science and Engineering and Chair of Physics at the University of North Texas. He
has over 35 years experience with ion accelerators, ion beams, vacuum systems, magnetic and electrostatic
lenses, computer systems, and ion sources. He has over 200-refereed publications in experimental nuclear
and atomic physics, materials characterization and modification with ion beams, and nanoscience. Dr.
McDaniel is the director of the Ion Beam Modification and Analysis Laboratory (IBMAL) and coordinator of
the Trace Element Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (TEAMS) facility and the Heavy-Ion Microprobe Facility.
In addition, Dr. McDaniel is the co-chair of the biennial International Conference on the Application of
Accelerators in Research and Industry (CAARI, the "Denton" conference), which is the largest conference
on accelerator applications in the world (
