Naoki Kishimoto

Naoki Kishimoto, born in Osaka, Japan in 1949,
received Doctor of Science at University of Tokyo, March 1977, majoring metal-nonmetal transition of
amorphous Si-Au System. Since 1978, he worked for National Research Institute for Metals, mainly on
radiation damage study of metal and semiconductors. Since 2001, the institute was reorganized as
National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) combining metal and ceramics institutes. He has been
engaged in a program of nanodevice development using ion implantation. He is now Director of Nanofunction
Group in Nanomaterials Laboratory, NIMS, and is co-assigned as Professor of University of Tsukuba and
Director of Integrated Strategy Office, NIMS. His main research interest is development of nonlinear
optical materials of metal/semiconductor nanoparticles using ion and laser beams.
